Night Time Tales

The sun rolled down the hills and pushed the sky into twilight. Twinkling stars shined in the still bright sky, barely seen. The flowers stretched their petals and curled for the night. The tree's let out a deep yawn, rustling with the wind. The earth was silent, laying still starting to sleep. Once the sun goes down however, not everything sleeps. Some just begin to wake. A howl in the distance, the moon shines bright, lighting the town. Fires burn down and a soft glow is seen from the windows. This is the time that little girls should be asleep and little goblins come to play.
Little goblins, of all colors of the earth, come out to torment the night. Goblins come from everywhere, every rock, tree, hill, and hole. Each with a different color to distinguish. These little goblins do not get along, and at night come out to fude over their territory.
As the green, brown, red, blue, and all other shades of goblin begin to feud. One little green goblin sits and stares at the moon. Something catches his eye in the window of a cottage. Something small and beautiful is restless in bed.
One little girl, awake in her bed, climbs down to cause mischeif in the night. Fairytales of witches and goblins peak her interest. Her dog, protector and master of the house, keeps her from getting into trouble. She sneaks down out of her room and slinks down the stairs so as not to wake her parents. She carefully avoids every crack and creek, only to be stopped by her faithful furry friend, Lue.
The little goblin, intrigued, scurries through the town, dodging guards patroling. He makes it to the door of the little cottage and manages his way in through a crack under the door. See some goblins can shape shift and make it through very tiny spaces. Unfortunately, he too is stopped in his tracks by the large hound in front of him.
Lue begins to growl, ready to lunge when the little girl runs to the goblin, caught by his beauty.
More to come, next time.

The Beginning

From our last stop, Robin realized that she was now in the big city, no friends, no family, just her.

A tiny insignificant bird in a very large place can be intimidating. Robin sat in her corner, watching the world below her. Hundreds of large grey birds flocked to the grounds below and covered the city.

"What lack of color" Robin thought to herself. "I'll just sit here until someone finds me".

Soon however, nightfall came, and the city turned to sparkles. Twinkling stars were no longer in the sky, but were now on the streets, in buildings, and at the end of the pole on which she sat.

Robin felt a grumbling in her tummy. She hadn't eaten since she arrived. She realized very quickly that she would need to find food and shelter very soon if she didn't want to sleep in the cold. Robin flew down to the street to look for berries and crumbs. The closer she got to the street though, she learned that there were no berries to be found. No seed from bushes. In fact there were no plants at all.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a bread crumb, she hopped over to it when a pigeon swooped down and stole it from her. As Robin scrambled to every crumb, each was picked off by a pigeon before she could eat until there was nothing left.

A large giant had obvserved this tragedy, walked up to Robin, and before she could fly away, dropped a whole piece of bread at Robin's feet. As quickly as she could, Robin gorged on the bread and flew off while the rest was devoured by the pigeons.

Next she had to find a home. She looked high and low to find a tree to nest in, but there was nothing. Suddenly something wooshed passed her. Then another, and another, and... then something ran straight into her. It was a huge white bird, with a long yellow beak. The large bird squaked, "out of the way". As Robin fell, stunned, she floated towards a building top. Close by she saw a large cage full of birds in and out of the cold. She hopped up to the cage, which she could fit through, and was surrounded by the same large grey pigeons she had seen stealing her food.

"Ummm... Hello" she said. "Ummm... Excuse me" she said even louder.

The large flock stopped their chatter. One yelled out "Hey! You're the one with the bread"!!!

The rest all started to talk and gossip about the little bird that had gotten them bread earlier.

Immediately they had a plan for Robin, and unknowingly, she stayed and slept.

Leaving the Nest

Once there was a small and insignificant sparrow named Robin. This sparrow was born under normal circumstances and was not extraordinary in any way. The sparrow lead a fairly normal life, going to school. Learning from the wise owl and many of the animals in the forest, until one day something extraordinary happened. While in her class, learning to fly from her nest, Robin caught a breeze and took off, soaring through the air. None of her classmates could follow though, and soon Robin was all alone in the world.
Having never left her nest before, Robin had no idea how to get home and found herself out of the forest and into unknown lands. This new land was very loud and full of a colors she had never seen before. There were very tall trees made of a shiny and reflective surface that went for what seemed like miles high. The animals in this land were strange and walked on only two legs and rode inside other animals. Robin was scared and landed on what she thought was safe ground when a giant nearly stepped on her. With a large foot about to crush her, Robin flew as fast as she could to a high place in the shade. Suddenly she heard a low and heavy voice coming from behind her. She turned to see a very large bird that was the same color as the tall trees around her. About to flee again, Robin asked "Who are you"? The large bird said, "Wait! Don't go! My name is Liam. I am a Pigeon. Have you never seen one before"?
Robin looked around for an alternative and found none. Liam went on, "You're in the big city now. Time to make it on your own". And thus began the extraordinary life of the ordinary sparrow, Robin.
